Her journey in sports began at Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, where she excelled in volleyball and track. April’s high school career was marked by significant achievements, including being named the CIF Volleyball Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999 and receiving the prestigious Gatorade National Player of the Year award in 1999.
Continuing her volleyball career at the University of Southern California (USC), April played a pivotal role in the team’s success, leading them to NCAA Championship victories in 2002 and 2003.
