Slater was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 1976 NFL Draft. He spent his entire 20-year career with the Rams, making him one of the longest-tenured players with a single team in NFL history. Known for his exceptional blocking skills, strength, and durability, Slater became a cornerstone of the Rams’ offensive line. He was selected to seven Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro multiple times.
